Runway ML falls under the apply and create parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy because it can generate images and videos based on text, images, or other videos. Students can use it to bring their ideas to life by typing prompts for the AI work with. 


Type of Learning Experience: 

Runway ML gives students the opportunity to learn through visual symbols, still pictures, motion pictures, and exhibits. This is because students can use Runway ML to create images or videos that fulfill the prompts that they give. Then, these images or videos can be shared/displayed for other students to view. 


Description of Participation:

I used Runway ML to generate three different images. The first two were from song lyrics because I was curious to see if it could bring these lyrics to life The last image was just generated from some words that describe my favorite things about fall.

ChatGPT can fall under multiple parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy. This is because if the students were using ChatGPT to answer questions or to help explain something, then they would be using it to help them with remembering or understanding a concept. If students are using ChatGPT to help them with using knowledge that they already know to create something then the work that they are doing would fall under the applying and creating parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy. When using ChatGPT, students are encouraged to be mindful that not everything on there is accurate so it also challenges students to analyze and evaluate the information they are obtaining from it before using it which would make it fall under the analyzing and evaluating parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy as well.


Type of Learning Experience: 

ChatGPT mostly gives students the opportunity to learn through visual symbols since it communicates through text with the users. 


Description of Participation:

I used ChatGPT to create a lesson plan for teaching kindergarten students how to identify first sounds in words. It was able to generate a lesson in seconds. I am impressed by how quickly it was able to create the lesson. I also tried the regenerate feature and it came up with a completely different lesson plan for the same concept. It was interesting to see how the lesson plans also had two different layouts.

Grammarly falls under the analyze and evaluate parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy because it challenges writers to think about the possible edits that they can make to their writing. Grammarly can also fall under the create part of Bloom’s Taxonomy because with Grammarly Go students can use it to help generate ideas or parts of their writing.

Grammarly mostly falls under the verbal and visual symbols parts of Dale’s Cone of Experience. This is because Grammarly encourages students to take a deeper look at their writing. It challenges students to think about their word choice, conciseness, and engagement with the audience. 


Description of Participation:

I used Grammarly to edit a Remind message that I was going to send to parents for our class field trip. It gave multiple suggestions on what I could do to improve my message. For example, it gave suggestions on how to make my message clearer and how to make it more personable.

If students are viewing a Popplet created by their teacher as a way to learn new information then students are likely working in the remembering and understanding parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy. If students are asked to build connections or make comparisons between multiple ideas featured in the Popplet, then they are more likely working within the analyzing or evaluating parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy. If students are asked to apply the knowledge that they have learned to create their own Popplets then they are more likely working within the applying and creating parts of Bloom’s Taxonomy. 


Type of Learning Experience: 

Popplet offers users the ability to create graphic organizers to help display their ideas and to create connections between different ideas. This means that students are likely to be learning through visual symbols, still pictures, motion pictures, and exhibits. This is because Popplet allows users to use texts, images, and videos to convey their ideas. These ideas are then displayed in a graphic organizer that students can view or share. 


Integration Techniques:

One way that Popplet could be used with Kindergarten students is when we create anchor charts. For example, for our apple unit, we have the students co-create an anchor chart about apples using their five senses. For each of the five senses, students are asked to come up with adjectives to describe what they are experiencing. For example, for their sense of taste, students will usually add the words sweet or sour to the anchor chart. Popplet could also offer us the chance to create an ongoing anchor chart as we move through the unit. So not only would we have an anchor chart for our 5 senses activity, but we could also use Popplet to create a display of the different activities that we do with apples that the students can reference.

When used as a presentation tool, Canva can fall under any part of Bloom’s Taxonomy. 

This is because if students are looking at presentations that their teachers have created they are most likely using lower-order thinking skills such as remembering, understanding, and applying because they are trying to retain the information from the presentation. On the other hand, if students are asked to view presentations with the purpose of comparing different ideas, making decisions based on what is shared in the presentations, or creating their own presentations then they are likely engaging in higher-level thinking skills.


Type of Learning Experience: 

Canva can be used to create learning experiences that incorporate learning through visual symbols, still pictures, motion pictures, and exhibits. This is because Canva can be used to create presentations that include text, images, and videos. These presentations can then be shared amongst the class.  


Integration Techniques:

One way that Canva can be used with younger students is by assigning each student a letter of the alphabet and by having them create their own slide in a presentation with examples of things that start with their letter. For example, if the student had the letter Pp, then they would include their letter on the slide along with images or graphics of things that they find that start with their letter such as pumpkins, pigs, popcorn, etc. Once the students have created their slides they can share them with the class. The other students could also take turns giving other examples that they can come up with for each letter. This presentation could serve as an ongoing project that students can add to.

These answers are then charted in a graph. Students can see in real-time how the class answered and teachers are able to see where the class’s answers fell. Based on the results, students and teachers can decide where students may need more support.

When used in survey mode, Kahoot can offer students the ability to learn through visual symbols and exhibits. This is because, with the collected data from the survey, Kahoot creates graphs to depict the data. Students and teachers can then work on interpreting the data to identify where more support may be needed and how to make the most use of their time. 


Integration Techniques:

One way that teachers can use survey mode on Kahoot is as a pre and post-assessment. For example, before starting a new unit, the teacher may ask their students about their comfort level/confidence in what they will be covering in the new unit. This gives students and teachers an idea of how everyone feels about the new unit. Then as the unit progresses, the teacher can have the students complete another check-in survey to see how they are feeling about the content. If there are areas where more support may be needed, teachers can offer additional support. Finally, at the end of the unit, the teacher can give the students another survey to see how their comfort level/confidence has grown. This could also serve as a chance for teachers to gain feedback from their students about the unit.

This is because once students’ forms have been created and their peers have had a chance to fill out the forms, the data collected by the forms can be analyzed and then students can decide what to do with the data.

Google Forms allows users the ability to create different types of surveys or questionnaires. It also allows users to view and display the collected data in the form of charts/graphs. Therefore, Google Forms will most likely offer students learning experiences that occur through visual symbols or exhibits if the data is displayed/shared as a chart or graph.  


Integration Techniques:

One way that teachers could use Google Forms with younger students is by having a daily question for the students to answer during their morning meeting. For example, “What is your favorite pet?” The teacher could offer different answer choices for the students to select from: dogs, cats, fish, birds, etc. Students would then be asked to complete the survey. Once all students have responded, then the class could practice analyzing the data together. With the charts and graphs in Google Forms, students could easily visualize the data. We could talk about how to recognize when something has the least or most votes. We could also teach students how to compare the numbers from the results.

Storyboard That also falls under the creating part of Bloom’s Taxonomy. This is because Storyboard That gives students and teachers the ability to create different types of visuals with the many templates that it offers.

Therefore, Storyboard That is likely going to provide students with a learning experience where they are learning through the use of visual symbols and still pictures. Another learning experience that Storyboard That could offer is learning through exhibits. This is because students can share the stories that they create with their peers.

One way that teachers can use Storyboard That is as a way for students to learn new information. Teachers can create graphic organizers or stories that introduce new concepts for students to read. Wakelet can provide students with multiple different learning experiences. For example, if students are engaging in an online lesson where the teacher is introducing a new topic, they are likely engaging with verbal symbols, visual symbols, audio recordings, still pictures, motion pictures, or educational television. However, if students are asked to contribute something to an assigned collection, then their learning experience may fall under the category of a demonstration or exhibit since they are trying to show the teacher what they have learned. 


Integration Techniques:

Teachers can use Wakelet as a way to create online lessons for their students to engage with. Wakelet allows teachers to build lessons with text, images, and videos. It also allows teachers to embed activities for students to complete. Teachers can also create collections for students to contribute to. For example, teachers could send their students on a scavenger hunt for different items that they can find starting with a certain letter and students can post images of the objects they found to the collection. Then, the teacher could have the students share their posts with the class. Wakelet can also be used to create student portfolios. With the collections feature, teachers can help students create different categories for their portfolios. These portfolios can be easily shared with families and can serve as a keepsake. Students can also continue adding to their portfolios throughout the years.

This gives students the chance to engage in meaningful discussions, and it also gives students the chance to hear from different perspectives. 


Type of Learning Experience: 

Depending on how Padlet is used it can fall under the verbal symbols, visual symbols, still picture, or motion picture categories of Dale’s Cone of Experience. This is because the content that can be posted/shared on Padlet includes mostly texts, images, or videos. If Padlet is used as a student portfolio, then it has the opportunity to be used as an exhibit learning experience because students can contribute to this growing portfolio and share it with their families or classmates. 


Integration Techniques:

 As mentioned above, there are multiple ways that Padlet can be integrated into the classroom. One way that Padlet can be integrated into the classroom is through the use of discussion boards. Teachers can give students a topic to discuss and students can add their thoughts and view their peers’ thoughts in real-time. Another way that Padlet can be used is as a student portfolio. Students can use the gallery wall template in Padlet as a way to document and display their work. They can also use it as a way to share their work with others.

This is because students can view other people’s profiles/accounts and analyze their posts as well as have discussions over them.

Instagram can be used to create exhibits that students can contribute to and explore. Instagram offers students the ability to create and share posts. These posts can serve as a portfolio that exhibits student work. Students can add posts to their portfolio throughout the year and they can view and share their portfolios as it continues to grow. 


Integration Techniques:

Instagram can be used in the classroom as a way to create student portfolios to document student work throughout the year. Teachers can create assignments or activities for students to complete. For example, students may be asked to submit images or videos for a project on Instagram. Another way that teachers can use Instagram is by asking students to submit an image of a piece of work they are most proud of. As the year progresses, the students' portfolios will grow and it offers students the opportunity to see how much they have grown throughout the year. It can also be a keepsake that they can hold on to and continue to add to.
